At Least Five People Have Died And 15 Others Have Been Injured After Shots Were Fired Outside A Club On The Last Night Of The Ten Day Long BPM Electronic Music Festival In Mexico.

The Event Is Held Annually At Playa Del Carmen And The Shooting Occurred In The Early Hours Of The Morning Of January 16th Said Rodolfo Del Angel, Police Director In Quintana Roo State.

The Shooting Was A Result Of A Disagreement Between People Inside The Blue Parrot Nightclub And Security Guards Had Been Caught In The Line Of Fire When They Tried To Contain The Incident.

The Event Attracts An International Crowd And The Death Toll Included Two Canadians, One Italian And One Colombian Person Who Were All BPM Employees. They Did Not Confirm The Reports In The Local Media About A Drug-Dealing Dispute And The Incident Involved A Lone Gunman.

A Statement From The BPM Organisers On Facebook Said: ““We Are Overcome With Grief Over This Senseless Act Of Violence And We Are Cooperating Fully With Local Law Enforcement And Government Officials As They Continue Their Investigation.”
