Many artists and the wider electronic music community are in outrage following an incident at London’s famous Ministry of Sound on Saturday.
US DJ/Producer Gordo was in the London, England, on Saturday night for a headline slot in the famous Box room @MOS. The artist also known as Carnage, playing hardstyle and hard dance, among other aliases, has shot to fame over the summer following the release of Drake’s ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ album, which Gordo is among the list of musical contributors.
This event that took place over the weekend has caused a massive backlash from the artists involved, not to mention the social media comments that have appeared in anger over the situation and have wanted the public to be informed of this behaviour.
Waze, Waze & Odyssey, tweeted to give a first-person account of what many people have called completely unacceptable behaviour. In a tweet to his fans who had been wanting to see him play, he said: “Headline DJ refused to come off last night and the 2 acts after him (me and another DJ) lost our sets. I’m over a decade of playing I’ve honestly never seen this level of entitlement or arrogance and I’ve DJ’d with way bigger (and better) artists.”

One of the other artists involved, Essel, an up-coming female UK talent, also took to social media to give compellingly explanation of the situation. She posted to her IG stories to apologise to fans whilst thanking MoS for their “professionalism” and Waze who, in her own words, “made my night worth it”.
In contrast to the positive aspects to Essel’s message around the encounter, she also shed light on being so “overwhelmed” by the situation, asking: “Can you imagine telling someone with Autism the plan has changed?”
Some reactions:
“I think it’s rough that, whether I am the best, worst or in between surely the venue booked me, and reading into this specific one the guy that didn’t get on put masses of effort to get his first shine at MoS, only to be bullied off his slot.“
“Not the game at all, just total ego. If I’m booked to play, I expect to play, not just when the headliner feels like it.“
